Initially known as the North West Rail Link (NWRL), the project involved building a new metro line and converting the existing Epping to Chatswood rail link to metro standards. Managed by Transport for NSW, the Metro North West officially opened on 26 May 2019 and was later extended through the CBD to Sydenham in 2024.

I filmed many key milestones of the project. Below are several videos capturing different stages of its construction as well as promotional materials on it’s development.

Building Showground Station

I filmed the breakthrough of TBM1 (Mega Tunnel Boring Machine) Elizabeth at showground station as well as the press conference with NSW Premier Mike Baird and NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance.

B-roll I shot throught the tunneling process was used in the videos below and used by the media for their coverage of this major milestone.

Educational Video – How we make the concrete

In only seven months a cow paddock was changed from unbroken ground to a state of the art pre-cast concrete factory.

The Tunel Boring Machines are often used as the face of tunneling projects. Many do not know of the comprehensive and complex support network required to operate these machines.

I was inducted into the site and shot the content for this educational video.

Excavating tunnel’s deepest point

Another milestone on the project was when TBM3, Isabelle reached her deepest point, digging to a depth of 58 metres. Not only was TBM3 Isabelle the first to reach the deepest point in the tunnel alignment, but this was also the lowest point of Australia’s longest twin railway tunnels.

It was a great moment for the team, highlighting an incredible amount of hard work from many different stakeholders.

As with other projects for Sydney Metro, I filmed the interview and B-roll for this video.

Filming in the tunnels and TBM was interesting, conducting a lengthy site induction and carrying bulky safety equipment like rebreathers in the case of an emergency.

UPRT Australia https://jaredparkerdesign.com/uprt-australia/ Mon, 20 Jan 2025 21:44:00 +0000 http://jaredparkerdesign.com/?p=244 I had the opportunity to work with UPRT Australia, the country’s leading provider of Upset, Prevention, and Recovery Training. Their commitment to safety and innovation has truly set them apart in the industry. In 2022, they were recognized as the Flight Training Organisation of the Year and received the prestigious CASA Wings award for their innovations in pilot training.

To help UPRT Australia connect with new audiences and further solidify their industry reputation, I provided a range of services including content management, graphic design, and marketing. The goal was to create engaging, informative content that not only highlighted their achievements but also resonated with both industry professionals and the wider community.

Promotional booklet: Avalon Airshow

This eight-page promotional brochure was created to educate potential customers and clients on why they should undertake UPRT training, and why they should do it with UPRT Australia.

This was created during preparations for the 2023 Avalon Airshow.

Marketing (META)

After my initial consultations with UPRT Australia, it became clear that one of their clients’ biggest challenges was building confidence. Many pilots were flying with them specifically to boost their self-assurance and become safer pilots.

I leveraged this insight to create a META campaign that targeted lookalikes likely to share these pain points. We launched a lead generation campaign, and I personally followed up on every lead via phone.

Initially, UPRT Australia didn’t have a system for deposits or upfront payments—clients would book by phone and pay after their flight. I introduced an easy checkout process that allowed clients to pay for their first flight upfront. This not only enabled instant lead conversion but also empowered efficient follow-ups for warm leads further down the funnel.

Review Campaign

UPRT Australia had an excellent reputation via word of mouth. Unfortunately, this was not reflected in their online presence. To solve this challenge, I ran an email campaign, encouraging existing customers to leave reviews for UPRT Australia on their Google business profile.

I then utilised these reviews in an organic social media campaign to build trust with their audience and potential new customers.

Website Management

UPRT Australia had an existing website built on a custom platform. I was able to adapt to this custom backend, learning how to make modifications to the website, adding new content, optimising for SEO, increasing readability and creating a streamlined contact process that increased conversions.

Testimonial:

Jared has been our marketing partner since December 2022, and we have been very happy with his work. He handled everything from generating social media content and posts on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, to Google search ads, website optimization and graphic design for print and digital media. He has increased our online visibility and engagement with a significant boost in social media engagement and website enquiries. Our Instagram followers have increased by over 100% since we started working with him and our website traffic tripled. We strongly recommend Jared to anyone who needs a reliable and effective marketing partner.

One of the reasons, we decided to work with Jared over other marketing companies is because he understood the difficulties we face in running an aviation business. And most importantly, he know’s how our customers think and how to best target them. If you are looking for a marketing partner look no further.

Lean In – Illawarra Hawks https://jaredparkerdesign.com/illawarra-hawks/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 20:34:00 +0000 http://jaredparkerdesign.com/?p=218 Paul Bartlett, leader of Lighthouse Online and Chaplain for the Illawarra Hawks, had a motto: “Lean in.” It’s a mindset that defines the team culture, and I wanted to capture that in a way that truly brought it to life. To create the two final videos I filmed content during Basketball games and an interview with Head Coach Rob Beveridge.

During the games, I focused not just on the action, but on the bench, the moments most people overlook. Every time a shot went up or the Hawks had possession, the players literally leaned in eyes locked, bodies tensed, ready to jump up in support. Even those who might not step on the court all season were fully engaged, living every play as if they were in the game themselves.

I used slow motion to help capture and convey these emotional moments.

Red Baron https://jaredparkerdesign.com/red-baron/ Fri, 17 Jan 2025 23:28:29 +0000 http://jaredparkerdesign.com/?p=359 From 2017 to 2025, I led Red Baron’s social media strategy, growing Instagram from 2,200 to over 80,000 followers and driving an average reach of 15 million accounts per quarter. With 70% of organic sales coming directly from social media, my work turned online engagement into a primary revenue driver.

I developed a compelling content strategy, using Instagram Stories to provide behind-the-scenes insights, influencer collaborations to expand reach, and an intensive posting schedule to maximize engagement. My efforts also enhanced paid advertising performance, contributing to Red Baron’s best-ever Black Friday campaign in 2024.

Caring For Communities – Paul Bartlett https://jaredparkerdesign.com/caring-for-communities-paul-bartlett/ Thu, 17 Mar 2016 00:37:00 +0000 http://jaredparkerdesign.com/?p=179 I worked with Paul Bartlett and the Australian Christian Churches (ACC) to create a video highlighting their community-focused initiatives. Paul’s vision went beyond traditional church walls—he believes in engaging with the community where they are, from supporting homeless youth to organizing major local events.

I worked with the ACC team during the shoot to capture interview content as well as B-roll. I edited the video and worked with multiple stakeholders to ensure a final product that suited everyone’s needs. I created motion graphic elements to visually compliment Paul’s interview segment.

We focused on high-quality video production and digital signage solutions. Below is a showreel we created to demonstrate our skills.

Drone shots are standard now; however, at the time,e it was an emerging technology and turnkey solutions were not readily available. I shot the drone shots in this video on a custom-built 550mm frane hexacopter I built from scratch using hobby-grade parts, a professional gopro gimbal and the just-released DJI Naza flight computer/autopilot.
